The FreeVis LASIK Center Nuremberg/Fürth is one of only few highly
specialized eye laser centers in Europe offering the modern Femto-LASIK
technology.
The new procedure as well as the Intralase femtosecond laser were introduced
to the public during a press conference with live surgery in February
2005.
With Femto-LASIK only lasers are used for the entire LASIK procedure.
The femtosecond laser replaces the traditionally used microkeratome
to cut the corneal flap. It is only used for the first part of the LASIK
surgery, for the actual cornea ablation, resulting in the correction
of the visual disorder, the excimer laser is still being used as before.
Studies have shown that the this new LASIK procedure is extremely safe
and precise and produces better results as well as increased patient
satisfaction.
